What Is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy for Skin
For those who are seeking a more natural approach to anti-ageing procedures, or would like to combine their treatments to receive the ultimate biological skin rejuvenation, then Cosmetic PRP (platelet-rich-plasma) is the treatment for you! Here at Coastal Aesthetics and Wellbeing we use the Alocuro PRO-PRP technology to provide a unique system for superior platelet extraction efficiency so that maximum growth factors can be introduced in the exact location that you'd like your skin to be repaired and rejuvenated.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for skin is a medical treatment that involves using the patient's blood plasma, enriched with platelets and growth factors, to promote skin rejuvenation and healing. The principle behind PRP therapy is that platelets contain various growth factors that can stimulate the skin's natural healing process, encouraging the regeneration of collagen, elastin, and other essential components that contribute to healthy, youthful-looking skin. PRP therapy involves drawing a small amount of blood from the patient's arm, processing it to separate the platelet-rich plasma, and injecting it into the skin using tiny needles. The treatment is minimally invasive and can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and other skin concerns.

PRP for Hair Loss
This treatment isn't just for anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation, but is also used to regrow hair!
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) or ‘male-pattern baldness’ is a common form of hair loss affecting up to 50% of men by age 50 and nearly 50% of women (female-pattern hair loss) over the course of their lifetime.
The causes for hair loss are complex, and review by a GP or Dermatologist to exclude metabolic causes is the best first step. Once nutritional deficiencies and metabolic function have been checked, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) has been proven by numerous high level research studies to reverse hair loss and improve hair number and overall skin and hair health.
The basic science behind PRP injections is that the patient’s own platelets deliver an abundance of growth factors to the skin on the scalp to stimulate hair regrowth. PRP therapy has shown remarkable beneficial effects with no major adverse reactions or harmful side effects, and is considered to be a very safe medical procedure.

Does It Hurt?
A local anaesthetic cream or gel is used to numb the skin. A very fine needle is used to inject the PRP and the injection itself may be slightly uncomfortable. As the PRP injection is intended to produce an inflammatory and healing response, most patients can expect the injected area to feel slightly tender and warm for the first day after the procedure. Please note that no ice, steroidal, or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (eg. Nurofen, Ibuprofen) should be used for 7 days post procedure as it can interfere with the healing response.
-
What Should You Expect Post Treatment?
Most people will experience some mild to moderate swelling in the area of treatment, redness or heat, which are all common side effects and are part of the activation of your platelets. Because a volume of fluid has to be administered, swelling is inevitable. Bruising can occur and may take several days to disappear.

How Soon Will I See Results?
Immediately after the procedure, the injected skin will feel tighter than usual, and lines / wrinkles will already be less visible. However this degree of tightening will not last, and the skin surface will return more to normal after 4 - 14 days. However the PRP will be working under the surface of the skin to make new cells and improve the subsurface layers of the skin. This is not an immediate process and the pronounced effects occur about 4-8 weeks after the procedure with most patients reporting that the improvements last 1-2 years.
Most patients will require three treatments at monthly intervals and then ongoing annual maintenance treatments. The first thing people notice is an improvement in skin turgor and elasticity. Collagen production can take up to three months to occur and the results can differ depending on the individual. Because the injected product is 100% your own, factors such as smoking, stress and illness can affect results. A series of three treatments can yield results for up to two years.
